The Package Project 2011...

Ooh, we've just signed up to The Package Project 2011! We almost missed out as the deadline is tomorrow, October 15th, but luckily discovered it in the nick of time (thanks to our friends over at Frankie Magazine)!

The project aims to connect creative like-minded people all over the world through an organised process of swapping packages and handmade delights! As you know, we are obsessed with pretty parcels, and so the notion of exchanging a parcel with a creative stranger out there is very exciting!  We're already thinking of the goodies that we will be giving back to our 'package partner' :-)

Anyone with an active blog can take part in the project so check out the details here.

it's our birthday month - yippee!

Well, it was almost a year ago that we launched presse-papiers at the Auckland Parent & Child Show! We were pretty green about this whole business thing to be honest :-) How hard can it be to sell beautiful paper and stationery right? Hmmm, yes, well.

Little did we, and the rest of NZ know, that over the next twelve months, our lovely country was going to be thrown some major challenges.  There was the tragedy at Pike River, the struggling economy and NZ dollar, and such devastation in poor Christchurch as it was rocked by major earthquakes and ongoing aftershocks that left much of the city, and certainly some people's lives, unrecognisable.

Despite it all however, the strength and resilience of this country is unwavering.  We forge ahead, trying to find positivity and comfort in the community, and we still like to see and hear about new things.  New shops, new trends, new people.

And we feel blessed to have met a lot of wonderful people over the past year.  Customers who love pretty paper.  Lovely bloggers who write about all things beautiful.  Talented designers who create wonderful products that people just want in their lives.  A lot of NZ creativity as well as plenty of overseas products being seen in this country for the first time.

It's been a rollercoaster of a ride, and we've learnt so much about our newest baby, presse-papiers.  With tears and pride, we say happy first birthday!  Here's to many more happy birthdays, with lots of new milestones and pretty paper in the years ahead :-)

And of course, a birthday wouldn't be complete without a present, right?  So we are giving you the chance to win a loyalty membership that entitles you to 20% off any orders for an entire year!

Enter the draw in 3 easy ways:

Mondays...

Some of you might know that we both have other jobs in addition to presse-papiers.  And yes, they are completely boring in comparison, and we are dreaming of the day where we yell to the world 'we quit', and then happily skip into our own little paper boutique instead!

In the meantime however...it was one of those Mondays where the end of the day couldn't have come quick enough.  These are the things that came to mind as we made our way home...

introducing Zooey Moon...

We love getting to know our newest products and the people behind them - it adds another whole level of meaning to what we do, and in turn, we love sharing this with our customers and blog readers.

This week we are introducing the lovely Nikki, and her gorgeous Zooey Moon art prints.  We asked Nikki if she could share the story behind Zooey Moon and what makes her prints unique and a must-have for your home!

"From a crazy number of years as a graphic designer and returning from the bright lights of overseas, I settled down to become a mum. Not content with the challenges of a newborn, I decided I would dream up a creative outlet that could be fun and flexible too. I'd seen so many gorgeous products overseas and found the NZ selection a little lacking when it came to buying for my daughter. So Zooey Moon was born. Reaching beyond the fashionable vinyls on the market to collectable, limited edition pieces that would work together. I wanted to create pieces that would stand the test of time and would serve as keepsakes and bookmarks of a time in a child's life. Our wall art set the tone and other products and ideas soon followed and are still in development, creating a growing range of decorative room accessories.

Zooey Moon is a fantastical, mythical place where colourful creatures and characters exist. Its a beautiful place to be and our products are designed to ignite imaginations and brighten spaces. Its a place well worth a visit!"

We have fallen in love with the characters in Zooey Moon's art prints - like Art the worm who pops up regularly to say hi to friends and Sidney the Snail who dreams about bigger things.  And we especially love that each print is limited to 50 copies only so you can be pretty sure it is a unique gift you are buying yourself or some lucky person!

spring and other things...

We are loving the arrival of Spring, especially all the magnolia and blossom trees that are in bloom at the moment. The daylight is stretching itself out for a little longer each day too, so it won't be long before we can have our dinner outside or let the little ones run off a bit more energy before bed.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  The opening of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand was fabulous to watch on Friday night - wonderful images of our cultural heritage, an exciting fireworks display, and a win for the All Blacks :-)

And p.s check out this new washi tape design in store - a new slim, two tone style that we are loving!

Essimar excellence...

We are always looking around for new gift wrapping inspiration, and loved these ideas by Esther Ramirez, the creative mind behind Essimar.  The unique folding of tissue paper creates a lovely textured appearance, and we love her use of washi tape on both white and kraft brown paper.

Hope you find these photos inspiring too! xx
